Submit your short film to the Black Cinema Club HTX Film Festival

Space City Shorts is a curated showcase of Houston’s finest Black independent filmmakers.

Featuring only 3 to 4 short films, each between 5 and 15 minutes, this block is intentionally intimate, elevated, and highly selective.

This program is designed to spotlight filmmakers who are deeply connected to Houston, whether they were born and raised here, currently live here, or created their films here.

More than just a screening, Space City Shorts is a premier-level platform that celebrates the artists shaping the city’s cinematic future. Presented as part of BCCHTX Film Festival, this block centers bold storytelling, strong craft, and authentic Black voices from Houston.

We are looking for films that feel distinct, well-made, and rooted in a clear point of view. If your film represents the depth, originality, and creative firepower of Houston’s Black film community, we want to see it.
